Indian Nursing Council

The Indian Nursing Council is an Indian Government autonomous body. The Central Government of India constituted Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under section 3(1) of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947 in the parliament to set up consistent measure of training for the nurses, midwives and health visitants.The important points for the formation of fresh Nursing Schools and Colleges In India and which are sanctioned By Indian Nursing Council.

  1. A No Objection certificate or an Essentiality Certificate must be obtained from the State Government by any organization who wish to start a fresh nursing school or college controlled by the Central Government, State Government, Local  body or a Private or Public Trust, Mission or any Voluntary registered Society under Registration Act or a Company registered under company’s act.
  2. Any institution who applies for starting fresh nursing course is inspected by the Indian Nursing Council to check quality of the offer with respect to basic features of the system, clinical or medical facility and suitability of the education staff appointed before accepting the proposal and approving permit to their programme.
  3. After getting the approval from the Indian Nursing Council for the nursing programme the approval from the State Nursing Council and Examination Board/University is required.
  4. The students are also given admission in the institution after the formal act of approval obtained from the State Nursing Council and Examination Board/University.
  5. The permission is given every year after the first batch completes the programme. Every year an inspection of the institution is conducted by the Indian Nursing Council.
