Indian Nursing Council Functions
Inspection of the nursing institutions to build and supervise a consistent standard of nursing education provided to nurses-midwife, supportive or supplementary nurse-midwives and health visitants.
The registration for the employment opportunities in India and abroad the required nursing qualification is as per section 10(2) (4) of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947.
The approval for the registration process of Indian nurses and Foreign nurses having foreign qualification is as per section 11(2) (a) of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947.

If any institution recognized by a State Council for the training courses of nurses, midwives, supplementary nurse-midwives or health visitants do not live up to the requirements of the council, the Indian Nursing Council possess the power to pull back the recognition of qualification as per Section 14 of the Act and section 14(1) (b) if it fails to uphold the required standards for the course.
Indian Nursing Council can give suggestion to the State Nursing Councils, Examining Boards, State Government and also Central Government in different important issues related to Nursing education in the country.
The Council Committee considers important issues associated with maintaining standards of nursing programs.
The Nursing education committee carefully consider issues related mainly with the nursing education programs and policy matters of the nursing education.
Consideration of the foreign qualifications necessary for the registration of nurses as stated in the section 11(2) (a) or (b) of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947.
